A three-day orientation event on preparation of directives on Internal Control System (ICS) for municipality’s elected members and officials conducted in Mudhe Sanischare, Dharmadevi Municipality, Shankhuwasabha,Maijogmai, Deumai Municipality-(Ilam), Phidim,Falelung (Panchthar),Aathrai tribeni,Meringden (Taplejung),Aathrai, Laliguras (Terhathum), Dharmadevi,Madi Mun (sankhuwasabha), Salpasilicho, Shadananda, Ramprasadrai, Pauwadungba Mun (Bhojpur), and Chaubise Mun (dhankuta). The orientation was started from 20 February 2024 and concluded on 22 February 2024. The main objectives of the orientation were to make aware all participats on internal control system and drafting the directives. The orientation was coordinated by Provincial Research and Training Academy (PRTA)/Provincial Center for Good Governance (PCGG) Jhapa and facilitated by 2 external facilitators, namely Mr. Nushraj Shrestha and Ms. Meanaka Shrestha. Ms. Gita Shrestha, GESI Expert from the PCGG provided technical support to the orientation. Mr. Ishor Chandra Poudel, Mayor of the municipality, expressed his realization that the system should have been started from the beginning of the federal system in the municipality. Likewise, Ms. Tara Mahat Bhattarai, Deputy Mayor, stated that the system will help to maintain integrity of financial and accounting information, promote accountability, and prevent fraud.

The orientation was actively participated by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, all ward chairperson and members of municipality executive committee. Likewise, Chief Administrative Officer, all sections’ chief, internal auditor and ward secretaries were also participated in the orientation.
