The training strengthened the capacity of GESI focal persons to mainstream gender equality and social inclusion in local governance. It supported local governments to make their policies, plans, programs, and budgets more inclusive and responsive, in line with constitutional provisions.

PRTC/PLGSP organized GESI mainstreaming capacity development training for GESI focal persons of local governments from 16 to 18 December 2025 in Janakpurdham covering Dhanusha and Mahottari districts and from 22 to 24 December 2025 in Lahan covering Siraha and Saptari. A total 52 focal person incorporating 39 women were participated in the training.

The three-day training focused on the concept of GESI and its legal and policy framework. Participants discussed the role and responsibility of local governments and GESI focal persons. Sessions covered GESI-friendly workplaces, achievements and challenges in GESI implementation, and gender responsive budgeting. The training also included GRB coding and scoring, GESI auditing, annual planning and budgeting processes, and institutional analysis using SWOT tools. Group work, presentations, and discussions training methods  helped participants gain practical skills.

Participants committed to applying GESI principles in local planning and budgeting processes. The training encouraged stronger coordination among local government sections and GESI focal persons. This event contributed to PLGSP’s goal by institutionalizing GESI in local governance systems and strengthening inclusive, accountable, and responsive service delivery at the local level.
