The three-day capacity development  training strengthened the understanding of local governments on environment-friendly local governance. The training supported participants to integrate environmental protection and climate concerns into local level planning and inclusive service delivery.

Two parallel trainings were organized by Province Research and Training Cenetr (PRTC)/PLGSP Enviroment Friendly Local Goveranance (EFLG) for local government officials covering all local governments from Saptari and Siraha districts, from 15–17 December 2025. A total of 55 participants including 15 women participated in  trainings. Participants included Deputy Mayors and Vice-Chairs, heads of environment, planning, infrastructure, and disaster management sections.

The training focused on EFLG concepts, legal provisions, indicators, and implementation processes. Participants learned about EIA, IEE, BES, and environment-friendly public offices. Group discussions and practical exercises enhanced  local governments assess their current status using EFLG indicators. The training also emphasized institutional arrangements, financial resources, stakeholder roles, and preparation of EFLG-related documents.

The next step is to form coordination committees and implement local action plans for EFLG. This training contributed to PLGSP’s goal of strengthening capable, accountable, and environment-responsive local governments.
