Enhancing Gender-Responsive Governance through Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)Training for Women Representatives of Municipal Assembly in Gandaki Province
A two-day training was conducted to strengthen the capacity of women representatives of municipal assembly from 85 local levels of Gandaki Province in applying Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles in planning, budgeting, and decision-making processes. The event was organized by the Gandaki Province Training Academy (GPTA) of Provincial and Local Governance Strengthening Programme (PLGSP).
The training aimed to equip participants with a deeper understanding of transformative GESI, enabling them to influence inclusive governance processes at the local level. Sessions covered a broad range of topics including inclusive planning and budgeting processes , GESI audits, social accountability tools such as Local Government Institutional Capacity Self Assessment (LISA), community-based development, group dynamics, and conflict management.
A total of 61 women assembly members from 85 local levels participated.
The training enabled women representatives to understand and apply GESI principles for strengthening inclusive local governance processes . It strengthened their capacity to actively participate in planning, budgeting, and decision-making processes, contributing to PLGSP’s objective of promoting inclusive and accountable governance.
