Training summary of GIS Application and Data Visualization in web-GIS Training Biratnagar

Training Date: 28-30 November 2021 and 1-3 October 2021

Back ground

For the capacity development of the IT officials of province-1, Province and Local Government Support Programme, Province Center Good Governance (PCGG) Jhapa organized the two events of GIS Application and Data Visualization in web-GIS training in Biratnagar. The programme is planned as per the PASIP work plan 2021/2022. The first events of the training started from 28 and completed in 30 September 2021. Inline, the second event stared from 1 October and completed in 3rd October 2021. The objective of the training is to achieve the PASIP result (outcome 3 and output 14). As per the demand of IT officers, this training was organized where 55 LGs IT officers benefited on this training. The GIS training supports to IT officers to use te GIS application on planning, monitoring and programming of LGs. The training capacitated IT officers on GIS application and data visualization process which support on effective planning, periodic plan preparation and resource mapping of LGs.

Personally, this training helps IT offices to uplift the personal career.  Provincial Training Center, Province 1, Kalwalguri Jhapa organized the two events of training where 55 participants benefited from 55 LGs. The duration of the training was 3 days residential and it was organized in Hotel Eastern Star Biratnagar. For this training, PTC /PCGG managed the quality facilitators from Kathmandu. whom provided the quality training. The training participants thanks to PCGG/PTC for providing quality training.

The training management and facilitation support provided by Mr. Balram Sharma Capacity Development export, Bidhya Gautam Curriculum development expert, Niraj Dahal IT expert and PTC team.

The inauguration programme was organized.The programme chaired by Mr. Ganesh prasad Timsina (executive director, PTC). The objective of the training clarifies by CD Expert Mr. Balram Sharma. Mr. Pranay Sharma (Team Leader) and Anita Guragai LG Expert address the participants.     The inauguration programme was closed with valuable suggestion and remarks by chairperson.  

Objectives

  • Capacitate IT officers on Digital Mapping Techniques, Modeling and Geo Database.  Introduction to GIS, Familiarization and Setup GIS application.  
  • To achieve the result of PCGG/PLGSP under outcome 3 and output 14.1

Outputs Delivered:

  • The training found fruitful, total 55 IT officers benefited from this training, The participants, received the quality training. Out of 55 participants, 9 are female.

Detail of training participant: The three days residential training was organized in hotel eastern star Biratnagar. Training organized in 2 groups. The group 1, total 27 participants (5, Female) and in group 2, total 28 participants (4 women) participated in the training.

Remarks and suggestion

The closing ceremony, Executive director Ganesh Prasad Timsina chair the programme. Provence Programme Manager Kshit Bhattarai invited as a chief guest.  Mr. Timsina, shared the importance of training and suggested IT officers to apply the GIS application in LG planning and monitoring system. He replied that the training is very important to palika for preparation of periodic plan, resource mapping and it can use the other several thematic areas.  In closing ceremony, chief guest Mr. Bhattarai provided valuable suggestion and remarks to participants. He requested the IT officers to use this tool in palika planning. He also said that this the the good opportunity to IT officers to prove them self as a proactive officer in Palika. PPD Kshit Bhattarai emphasizes that this training is not only important to LGs, it is important to IT officers too for uplift their personal career growth.
