On January 1, 2024, a preparatory meeting was held to strategize for the development of the second periodic plan of Koshi Province. The Honorable Chief Minister Kedar Karki chaired the meeting, which included key figures such as the Vice-Chairperson of the Province Planning Commission, Mr. Puranjan Acharya, Acting Province Principal Secretary, Mr. Ishwor Giri, Province Secretary cum PPD, Mr. Badri Kumar Karki, and a representative from the Ministry of Finance. Also present were representatives from the Province Planning Commission, Pro. Dr. P.K Jha from Tribhuvan University, and the PLGSP TA team.

During the meeting, significant decisions were made regarding the approval of the review of the first periodic plan, the finalization of the Terms of Reference (ToR), and the procurement process for the activity. As the timeline for the first periodic plan is approaching its conclusion, Koshi Province has outlined plans to formulate the second periodic plan with support from the PLGSP. The Provincial Project Implementation Unit (PPIU) has also incorporated this initiative into its Annual Strategic Implementation Program (ASIP) "6.41  Support to prepare second provincial periodic Plan"
