Planning Officer Raju Kumar Jha shared his realization, stating, “This training was very achievement-oriented and useful for all participants. We realized that environmental aspects must be mandated for infrastructure development. If this understanding is shared with local decision-makers, it will further promote environment-friendly local governance. The use of online pre- and post-training assessments was also very effective.” Similarly, Deputy Chair Renu Kumari Yadav reflected, “The topics discussed over the three days became very clear to us. I particularly liked the group work, where we reviewed the environmental situation of our own municipalities. I have now realized that we should adopt an environment-friendly culture, starting from households and extending to local governance. I am committed to applying this learning in my municipality.”
The Environment-Friendly Local Governance Training, organized by PLGSP, Madhesh, encouraged local governments to integrate environmental considerations from households into municipal decision-making, thereby positively influencing leadership perspectives and planning practices.
Two training events brought together 31 elected representatives and officials from 18 local governments, including women leaders, to strengthen their practical understanding of environment-friendly local governance.
