Date: 8 August 2025 | Online
The Provincial and Local Governance Strengthening Programme (PLGSP) successfully organized a virtual peer learning session on the theme “Making PRTAs Self-Sustainable – Experiences and Insights”, engaging Provincial Research and Training Academies (PRTAs) and Provincial Centers for Good Governance (PCGGs) from all seven provinces.
The session was attended by all National Programme Manager, Executive Directors of all seven PRTAs/PCGGs and technical team. The evirtual vent served as a milestone in strengthening collaboration and knowledge exchange among provincial training institutions. Key highlights included:
- Global Exposure – PLGSP Technical Advisors shared global best practices that could be adapted to the Nepali context.
- Peer Learning – The Gandaki Provincial Training Academy (GPTA) shared its experiences on ISO certification, expert mapping, and strategies for revenue generation.
- Strategic Support – Collaboration with the Nepal Administrative Staff College (NASC) has initiated the standardization of training curricula, alongside support for GPTA’s strategic and business planning.
- Expanded Mandates – Discussions and experiences from other PRTAs/PCGGs covered efforts towards cross learning, developing induction curricula for new officers, accreditation preparation, focussing on partnerships for research, implementing training quality assessments, and resource mobilization and collaborations with sustainability in mind -- reflecting the evolving role of PRTAs/PCGGs beyond training delivery.
This event also marked the formal launch of a Community of Practice for PRTAs and PCGGs—a platform designed to promote continuous peer collaboration, joint problem-solving, and innovation in institutional development.
Through initiatives that integrate accreditation, resource mobilization, strategic planning and corresponding business plan development, and peer learning, PLGSP continues to enable PRTAs to evolve into robust centers of excellence supporting sustainable and effective federal governance in Nepal.
