Workshop on the Intergovernmental Relations among all Three Tiers of Government Concluded in Madhesh Province on 2 July 2024
In an effort to strengthen the intergovernmental relations between and among the three tiers of government, namely the Federal Government, Madhesh Province Government and the Local Governments of Madhesh Province, the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of the Madhesh Province Government convened an interaction workshop in Janakpur on 2 July 2024 on disaster management, which is included in the list of concurrent powers of the Federation, Province and Local Level in the Schedule 9 of the Constitution of Nepal. The workshop which was graced with the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister (Satis Kumar Singh) as a chief guest was chaired by the Hon’ble Minister for the Ministry of Home, Communication and Law (Ms. Bimala Ansari) and was also participated by the Hon’ble Physical Infrastructure Development Minister (Saroj Kumar Yadav), Hon’ble Finance Minister (Bharat Prasad Sah), Hon’ble Health and Population Minister (Satrudhan Prasad Singh) and Hon’ble Forest and Environment Minister (Tribhuwan Sah).
The workshop was participated by a total of 84 individuals representing the Mayor/Chairpersons and Deputy Mayor/Vice Chairpersons of Local Governments; Chiefs of all eight District Coordination Committees of the Madhesh Province; Secretaries of all Ministries of Madhesh Province Government; Chief of the Province Security Agencies from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department; Chief District Officers from all eight districts and Chief of the District Security Agencies from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department from all eight district of the province.
The Provincial Programme Implementation Unit of the Provincial and Local Governance Support Programme provided the overall technical assistance to the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Madhesh Province to bring together the diverse stakeholders from all three spheres of government to interact on the concurrent right of a disaster management and build a synergy in the disaster management efforts of the Local Governments, Madhesh Province Government and the Federal Government in Madhesh Province and strengthen the intergovernmental relationship.
