Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, and Rautahat

Aimed at building the capacity of GESI focal persons in making local governance more inclusive, two-day training events for GESI focal persons from local governments (LGs) of four districts—Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, and Rautahat—were organized in Madhesh Province.

The trainings were held from 15–16 June 2025 in Chapur, Rautahat, and from 20–21 June 2025 at Provincial Research and Training Centre (PRTC), Janakpur.

The training enhanced knowledge and skills of 42 participants in planning, budgeting, and service delivery that addresses the needs of women, marginalized communities, persons with disabilities, and other excluded groups.

Participants learned practical tools such as gender-responsive budgeting, GESI audits, and understanding legal frameworks. Key issues discussed included the limited representation of women, weak data systems, policy gaps, and unequal power dynamics.

One of the major achievements of the trainings was the development of local government-specific action plans. These plans included activities like preparing GESI profiles, conducting audits, organizing gender-based violence response training, and formulating GESI strategies.
