The 6th Madhesh Provincial Coordination Council (PCC) meeting successfully organized on 27th Jestha 2083 at Janakpurdham with the aim of strengthening strategic partnerships and aligning development priorities between the provincial and local governments. The session focused on enhancing inter-governmental coordination to accelerate program implementation, ensure transparency in grant allocation, and foster greater collaboration among all three tiers of government for the sustainable development of Madhesh Province.
The meeting was chaired by the Honorable Chief Minister, Mr. Krishna Prasad Yadav, and brought together key stakeholders including provincial ministers, the Chief Secretary, and the heads, deputy heads, mayors, and deputy mayors from District Coordination Committees and municipalities across the province’s eight districts.
Key priorities identified during the discussion included improving fiscal transparency, timely budget transfers, and shifting focus from small, scattered projects to larger, more impactful initiatives. Strategic discussions also centered on providing technical education scholarships over material distribution, modernizing agriculture, and resolving governance bottlenecks through better coordination.
The meeting resulted in five key decisions that will guide the upcoming fiscal year. These include accelerating the implementation of past decisions, ensuring all grants are transparently listed in the annual development program, and enhancing coordination on infrastructure projects. As a crucial next step, critical issues requiring federal intervention such as the stalled Kamala Bridge construction, the impact of the Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion Project, and the finalization of the Police Adjustment Act will be formally escalated to the National Coordination Council. This meeting marks a significant step towards achieving the Provincial and Local Governance Support Program's (PLGSP) goal of fostering a collaborative and effective governance framework for the prosperity of Madhesh Province.
